THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
-
Trauma-informed care is an approach that recognizes and addresses the symptoms commonly experienced by individuals with histories of trauma. By utilizing a trauma-informed perspective, the therapeutic process is designed to minimize the risk of re-traumatization and promote a sense of safety, trust, and empowerment for clients.

People-centred care ensures an individual’s values, social and family circumstances, goals, and lived experiences are integrated and reflected within the therapeutic process.
“People-centred care is about doing things with the individual, rather than doing things to an individual.”
-
A strength-based approach emphasizes the client's inherent strengths and capacities, viewing the individual as resilient in the face of adversity (McCashen, 2005). This perspective fosters empowerment and encourages the development of positive coping strategies by building upon existing resources and abilities.

I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach, drawing upon evidence-based therapies tailored to your unique needs and goals. My practice most frequently incorporates Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), play therapy (with a focus on sand tray techniques), and Family Systems Therapy (SFT).
I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based intervention commonly used to address post-traumatic stress by employing guided eye movements.
For clients presenting with concerns related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, I implement Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a specialized and effective treatment modality for OCD.

I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to serve as a supportive co-pilot during a portion of your journey. My approach is grounded in recognizing and utilizing the strengths and skills you already possess, while also offering new tools and strategies to help you achieve your goals.
In our initial meeting, we will collaborate to establish meaningful goals that will guide your treatment plan. Throughout our sessions, we will regularly review these goals, making adjustments or developing new ones as needed to ensure your progress and ongoing support.
“Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.”
